We're excited to start another school year next week!

Rutherford County Schools will resume on Monday, Aug. 7, with a two-hour registration and orientation day. There will be a teacher work day on Tuesday, Aug. 8 (no school for students), and students will have their first full day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Kindergartners and pre-kindergartners will follow a phase-in schedule, which can be found HERE

We're looking forward to seeing the students return and to the start of another successful school year!


REMINDER: Freshmen orientation is Thursday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m.

REMINDER: Freshmen orientation will be held at the high schools on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 6-7 p.m. Students should attend the orientation at their zoned school unless they have been approved for a zone exemption.

Please note, for those who have not registered already, registration is held at the individual schools. This LINK will provide you with information about how to register. 


Bus schedule and school zones

If you don't know your bus stop information and schedule, or need to verify your school zone, you can do so on the RCS website HERE.

Helpful hint: Only type in your street number and the first few letters of your street name, and the system will be able to better find your address.

Please be aware that all fall course requests require approval from the counselor at your zoned school.


Rutherford County Schools prepares to celebrate eclipse on Aug. 21

Rutherford County Schools will be open on Monday, Aug. 21, and schools will have educational activities for students to celebrate The Great American Eclipse. 

Thanks to a generous donation from MTSU and Turner Construction, students will be provided with a free pair of eclipse glasses. 

Parents will receive additional information directly from their schools, and we are looking forward to celebrating and learning from this rare event. 


Rutherford County Schools cuts ribbon on Rocky Fork Middle School

Hundreds of students, educators, community members and government leaders celebrated the opening of Rocky Fork Middle School on Sunday, July 30. 

The school, which is located in Smyrna, will serve grades 6-8 and becomes the 47th Rutherford County school.
