Target Foundation provides book to every Smyrna Elementary student

SMYRNA — The Target Foundation and Scholastic recently teamed up to provide a literacy event for families at Smyrna Elementary School. A Read and Rise Bookfair was held at the school library the week of May 7 and activities for students and their parents were held the evening of May 8.

Parents participated in a Literacy training meeting and then joined their children to make a special take-home book together.  Local Target employees help with the activities for the children including read-alouds and other literacy presentations.  The Target Foundation provided a gift certificate for every child enrolled at school that they were allowed to redeem during the book fair.
