Director Harry Gill awarded U.S. Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal

MURFREESBORO — Rutherford County Director of Schools Harry Gill Jr. was awarded the U.S. Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal during the May 16 Board of Education meeting.

Col. (ret.) Harry Houchens, the JROTC director for the school district, and LTC (Ret.) Richard A. Jeffries presented the medal to Mr. Gill.  

“Mr. Gill’s 40-year period of educational service is marked by a selfless attitude and a willingness to expend his effort to achieve the very best on behalf of the students and teachers,” states a certificate with the award signed by Maj. Gen. James M. McDonald. “

Mr. Gill also received a mounted clock that contained the emblems of each high school’s JROTC program in appreciation for his commitment to the program.
