Rutherford County Schools
Rutherford County Schools recognized five employees with The RCS Difference Employee Awards following 417 nominations highlighting the care, leadership and dedication of district staff.
Supported by SONIC of Rutherford County, the awards recognize employees whose work makes a difference for students, families and colleagues.
This quarter’s recipients are:
School Support Staff — Tana Jenkins, Walter Hill Elementary School: A structured-setting educational assistant, Jenkins was praised for adapting instruction to students’ needs and helping children feel safe, supported and excited to learn.
Administration — Dr. Jessica Supakhan, Holloway High School and Rutherford County Virtual School: Nominators highlighted her approachable leadership, support for teachers and commitment to helping students overcome obstacles to graduation.
Teacher — Ashley Harvey, Christiana Middle School: Harvey was recognized for engaging science instruction, mentoring fellow teachers and expanding opportunities through STEAM, Beta Club and National Junior Honor Society.
Transportation — Jason Smith, Smyrna Middle School and Thurman Francis Arts Academy: A crossing guard serving both schools, Smith was celebrated for his dependability, kindness and welcoming smile.
Central Office — Kristina Danko, ESL Department: Danko was honored for instructional coaching that helps teachers strengthen their practice and make learning more accessible to students developing English-language skills.
The district also acknowledged leadership team members Trey Lee and Anna Ralston, who received nominations but are ineligible for the awards. Lee was praised for collaboration with the Town of Smyrna on school facilities and traffic safety, while Ralston was recognized for helping a family feel welcomed and supported during its move to Rutherford County.
