SRO Appreciation Day

SRO Appreciation Day
According to the National Association of School Resource Officers, "SROs are carefully selected, specifically trained, sworn law enforcement officers assigned by an employing law enforcement agency to work with schools using community-oriented policing concepts."

The role of School Resource Officer (SRO) stands out in the field of law enforcement.

These officers play a distinctive threefold role, acting as informal mentors or counselors, providing education on the law, and serving as law enforcement officers to ensure the safety of the students and communities they cater to.

Rutherford County was the first in Tennessee to create an SRO program 31 years ago.
