Stewarts Creek Middle School and Central Magnet School both competed at the 2017 Middle Tennessee STEM Innovation Hub STEM Expo at Tennessee State University on April 6.
Eleven Special Recognition Awards were offered at the STEM Expo, and Rutherford County walked away with five of the 11 awards. Stewarts Creek Middle School received two Special Recognition awards and Central Magnet School received three. SCMS and CMS were the only two schools to receive multiple Special Recognition awards.
There were 265 projects entered in this competition from the Middle Tennessee area, including Rutherford County, Davidson County, and Sumner County.
Stewarts Creek Middle School
Katelyn Carr, Dylan Fowler, Angela Kupchik, and Karli Newton received the Tennessee State University School of Engineering Award of Excellence. Alton Anthony, Jaylen Moore, and Justin Stanley received the American Society of Civil Engineers Award of Excellence. All of the students from Stewarts Creek Middle School and Central Magnet School also earned either Gold or Silver recognition for their projects.
Central Magnet School
Kaylee Morasco and Samantha Havenstrite received the MTSU Award of Excellence. Korey Beller, Nathaniel Colemon and Cooper Hobbs received the TSIN Award of Excellence. Sophia Hall and Ashley Pelham received the Metro Nashville Public School Award of Excellence.
