At Cedar Grove Elementary, students are growing through a partnership with LaVergne High School and the Big Brother, Big Sister program.
The two schools are across the street from one another.
Cedar Grove serves grades K-5, while LaVergne High has students in grades 9-12.
Each student who participates in the program is paired with a high school “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” who mentors a “Little.” Pairs of students play games, work on homework, and otherwise just get to know each other.
For the Littles, the relationship provides a chance to talk and socialize with someone they look up to. For the Big, there’s a chance to mentor and lead the younger generation.
