After serving as interim principal since January, Lisa Snider now has been named the principal of Stewartsboro Elementary School by Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan.

“It's my honor to announce the removal of the interim title, and to officially name Mrs. Lisa Snider as the principal at Stewartsboro Elementary,” Dr. Sullivan said.

Snider succeeds former principal Dr. Larissa Westerfield, who joined the district’s academics department. Snider served as assistant principal of the school since 2019.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be the next principal of Stewartsboro Elementary School,” Snider said. “I look forward to continuing the success that Stewartsboro experienced under Dr. Westerfield’s leadership. Stewartsboro has become a very successful school because of the hard work of our faculty, students, and families. I plan to work closely with our stakeholders to continue to achieve our goal of all students learning and growing on a daily basis.”

Director Sullivan posted the position and then an interview committee recommended Snider among other finalists.

Snider holds advanced degrees in education from Lipscomb University, Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee State University. She is completing her doctorate currently.

Originally a math teacher, she has worked in elementary and middle schools. She’s also served as an instructional coach, as a trainer for teachers, in special education, and has completed multiple leadership academies.
