Welcome to Health Services

The mission of the Health Services Department of Rutherford County Schools is to optimize student health and learning. We work toward this goal by advocating for all students to have access to a school nurse and by developing and implementing safe, effective school health practices. It is widely accepted that healthy children learn better. By staying healthy and in the classroom, students can benefit from the high quality instruction delivered by RCS faculty.

The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) defines School Nursing below:
"School nursing, a specialized practice of public health nursing, protects and promotes student health, facilitates normal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders that bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potentials."

Approved by the NASN Board of Directors June 2016
