A pair of FFA programs from Rutherford County Schools — Stewarts Creek and Eagleville high schools — are among nine schools from Tennessee named Three-Star chapters by the National FFA Organization.

Both programs will be recognized in October at the 2019 National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana.

It is an honor to obtain Three-Star recognition,” said Emily Marshall an agriculture educator at Eagleville School. “We do so many competitions in FFA, but I have always valued the team effort behind being a chapter more than any of those wins.

This award is definitely a nod to their hard work and cooperation as a chapter this past year and they earned it.”

The program at Stewarts Creek, which has emerged as a top program in the state, is overseen by agriculture instructor Gina Stewart.

FFA provides young people with leadership opportunities that provide a lifetime of benefits, while promoting agriculture.

The National FFA Organization provides leaderships, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 669,989 student members who belong to one of 8,630 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to a release.

The organization is also supported by 459,514 alumni members in 2,236 alumni chapters throughout the U.S.
