A team of students from Stewarts Creek High School’s video production program will work with the Town of Smyrna’s media services personnel to broadcast the Smyrna versus Stewarts Creek football game on Aug. 20.

The game will be live on YouTube – both the Stewarts Creek TV and Town of Smyrna page – as well as the town’s Facebook page. It will be tape delayed on Smyrna Channel 3. Every aspect of the game’s broadcast is student-led under the tutelage of video production teacher Chris Bissinger.

“These students have handled all elements of this project,” Bissinger said.  “From site planning and advancing, content creation, technical preparation, graphic design and equipment prep and inventory, this broadcast is a result of their effort.

“It is a tremendous opportunity for students to gain experience in the audio-visual career pathway.”

Town of Smyrna Manager Brian D. Hercules values workforce development and creating opportunities within the town to provide real-world experience for students.

“Chris Bissinger shares our philosophy and seeks out opportunities that bring value to his students and to our community,” Hercules said. “Residents who cannot attend the game have the opportunity to watch from the comfort of their homes. We are excited to watch the students in action.”

The Tennessee Department of Education provides the framework for pathways of study that are grouped by the knowledge and skills required for occupations in career fields.

Students involved in this production have selected the video production pathway.
