Seven candidates apply for Director of Schools role

Seven candidates — including four Rutherford County applicants, one from Nashville, one from Franklin and one from Georgia — have submitted their credentials to become the next Director of Schools. 

The deadline to apply for the position was midnight Friday, April 29. 

The candidates are:

  • Andrea Anthony, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Support Services, Rutherford County Schools, Murfreesboro, TN
  • John Ash, Principal, Central Magnet School, Rutherford County Schools, Murfreesboro, TN
  • Nolan Clark Blair, Principal, McFadden School of Excellence, Rutherford County Schools, Murfreesboro, TN
  • Erick Hofstetter, Chief Operations Officer, Paulding County School District, Dallas, GA
  • James Sullivan, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Rutherford County Schools, Murfreesboro, TN
  • Christopher Treadway, Principal, Poplar Grove Middle School, Franklin Special School District, Franklin, TN
  • Clinton Wilson, Executive Principal, Glencliff High School, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Nashville, TN

The School Board has a series of scheduled public meetings in May to discuss and interview finalists for the position. Those chosen to be interviewed will include meet-and-greet events with local community leaders, parents and employees prior to a formal interview before the elected School Board. 

Specifics on those interviews will be released as soon the Board determines the list of finalists. 

Current Director of Schools Bill Spurlock will serve in the position through June 30, 2022.
