On July 18, the Rutherford County School Board voted to deny the application for new-start charter school American Classical Academy-Rutherford (ACAR) after an RCS Review Committee found that ACAR’s amended application did not meet the criteria set forth by the Tennessee Department of Education in the areas of Academic Plan and Operations Plan.
ACAR has appealed the local decision to the Tennessee Charter Commission. A public appeal hearing will be held on September 14. The Commission will accept written public comments until one week after the conclusion of the public hearing.
