Chris Lafferty wasn’t always a musician, but a high school music teacher changed everything. Now, keyboard in hand, Lafferty leads students in song and dance twice a week with music teacher Tara Polson.
Many schools start their day listening to an announcements routine which is easily patterned: birthdays, lunch menus and club news.
Christiana Elementary is different thanks to Lafferty’s love of music and his effort to build culture.
Once a performer at the Kentucky Opry (singing with the likes of Chris Stapleton and other musicians), Lafferty turns his love of music into a joyful connection point for his students.
For morning announcements, the Christiana Elementary principal appears in classes to rally students for another day of learning.
