John Colemon Elementary recently celebrated its fifth annual Cougar Color Fun Run.
This run is held to raise money for the school, specifically for supplies tied to the school’s 2023-2024 theme, “Adventure Begins.”
Funds raised will go the purchase of items such as shirts, stickers, books and notepads.
The goal was to raise a lofty $30,000 to put back into the student body.
Principal Christy Brown was thrilled to announce to students and staff that their efforts raised $28,204.
Three students who excelled in their fundraising were awarded with the opportunity to be recognized as principal for a day, assistant principal for a day, and secretary for a day.
Highest donating students:
• Emma Elliott, first grade – $1,180 raised
• Eva Gonzalez-Hancock, second grade – $531 raised
• Zoe Gonzalez-Hancock, kindergarten – $530 raised
Brown credited Taylor Farms and Bridgestone for their contributions, as well as the school’s faculty and staff, for giving back to the school financially.
The school would also like to thank Smyrna’s Whole Strength CrossFit for sending multiple staff members out to cheer on the students as they ran.
