Rutherford County Schools
On Tuesday, Christiana Middle hosted the county’s STE(A)M Night of the year.
In the education world, STEM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and it is used to describe academic programs centered around those fields. Some also use the acronym “STE(A)M,” which is the same type of program, but the extra “A” stands for Arts.
The event gave Christiana students a chance to showcase their STE(A)M projects to other students and the public.
Around the school there were many different projects including balloon racing, irrigation structures and freshwater treatment systems.
Nissan’s presence at the event was hard to ignore.
The company brought several staff members to the event with many of them hosting opportunities for students to get some hands-on work with their virtual reality simulators.
A semi-truck housed 10 opportunities for students to work virtually with construction equipment, simulation welding and a truck-driving simulator.
The event was the launch of Nissan’s “Be Pro. Be Proud.” campaign, which gives students a real look at future careers in technical education.
Nissan partnered with the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce to provide this opportunity for schools around the state to bring exposure to options in technical education.
