Angela Allison named Tennessee School Social Worker of the Year

Rutherford County Schools is excited to announce Angela Allison has been named Tennessee’s 2023 School Social Worker of the Year.

First presented in 1997, the Beverly Diane Taylor School Social Worker of the Year award goes to a member of the Tennessee Association of School Social Workers (TASSW) who has had a significant impact upon students, their families, schools, and communities locally and statewide to better the learning opportunities for all students. 

Allison has been a school social worker for over 20 years and has a gift with working with the county’s most at-risk students and supporting them to become successful students. She grew up in Rutherford County and dedicates her life to serving the students and families of her community.

She is always willing to help her fellow social workers and share her insights and experiences to help support those around her. Throughout her career, she has volunteered as a field supervisor to students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work.

Allison works with families at Daniel-McKee Alternative School, Oakland Middle and Oakland High. In addition to being a social worker, Allison has coached football and track teams at various schools and served as a mentor to countless students.
