Stewarts Creek Elementary hosted Tennessee Titans rookie John Ojukwu for a school visit after a student won a contest hosted by WKRN (News 2).
Fourth-grader Raven Rose was selected as the winner of the “Take a Titan 2 School” visit on Dec. 5.
Ojukwu, an offensive tackle who played at Boise State, was greeted by 1,300-plus Stewarts Creek Elementary students and staff, as well as cheerleaders from Stewarts Creek Middle and the Stewarts Creek High drumline.
During the visit, Rose and Ojukwu competed with classmates for a game of “Are You Smarter than a Fourth Grader?” and “Minute to Win It.” Rose also interviewed Ojukwu about what he wanted for Christmas (items to make his new Nashville residence feel like a home) and what superpower he’d like to have (the ability to fly).
Ojukwu said the day was unlike anything he’d ever experienced.
“Crazy energy from the kids,” he said.
Rose’s favorite part of the day?
“Meeting him,” she said.
Rose and her classmates were also treated to lunch from Hattie B’s.
Before ending his visit, Ojukwu took photos with each fourth-grade class and autographed lunchboxes from Middle Tennessee State University. MTSU’s College of Education is partnering with News 2 for the 2023 “Take a Titan to School” campaign and presented SCES teachers who graduated from the university with a plush blanket and a certificate.
