Harold Dean Vincion would miss events some times, but he never missed an Eagleville football game.
“He skipped weddings, receptions and many other events,” Vincion’s wife of 57 years Linda said. “He made sure he was there supporting on Friday nights.”
Vincion passed away during the 2023 football season, and Michelle Delk’s fourth grade class decided they wanted to do something unique in his memory.
The class worked together to create a book that honors the life of Vincion and the community of Eagleville.
Each student in Delk’s class was responsible for adding artwork and words to the book.
“We are extremely proud of our students and the work they put in to creating this piece,” Eagleville principal Tim Pedigo said. “Mr. Vincion deserves to be honored and I feel like our students did their best to do that.”
Delk’s students had not seen the final copy of the poetry book that they created until it was presented to the Vincion family.
“The students had the idea to honor Mr. Vincion,” Eagleville assistant principal Jason Brown said. “This project was 100% student driven.”
Members of Vincion’s family came to the school to receive a copy of the book as a member of Delk’s class presented an essay she wrote about the community.
Harold Dean Vincion was a 1963 graduate of Eagleville High School.
Vincion “planted his roots” in Eagleville and developed a strong commitment to the community, according to his family.
“My father encompassed the Eagleville spirit more than anyone ever has,” Derek Vincion said. “He was committed to this community.”
