Hello parents, this is James Evans with Rutherford County Schools and we want to let you know the plan for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2.
We have been monitoring the forecast closely and the predicted timing of storms affecting our county tomorrow. The most recent forecast calls for the potential severe front to hit our area around 3 p.m.
With that in mind, we will close schools three hours early tomorrow. Again, all Rutherford County schools will close three hours early Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Three hours early means all dismissal and bus transportation schedules will be adjusted by three hours. So if your school normally dismisses at 2:30, for example, it will dismiss at 11:30 tomorrow. The same goes for bus stop times.
In addition, all afterschool extracurricular activities are canceled for Tuesday. The School Board work session will continue as scheduled.
We know half-day schedules are not always convenient for parents, but we have made this difficult decision to ensure all bus routes are completed before the potential severe weather hits.
