The Tennessee Public Charter School Commission has scheduled a public hearing for Novus SMART Academy at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.
The purpose of the hearing is to appeal the Board of Education’s denial of Novus SMART Academy’s application. The meeting will be held at Rutherford County Schools’ Central Office, 2240 Southpark Drive in Murfreesboro.
Members of the public are invited to provide feedback. Individuals who have registered in advance with the Commission will have up to two minutes to provide comments. The Commission will allow up to 10 individuals to speaking in support of approving the application and up to 10 individuals speaking in support of the Board of Education’s decision to deny the application.
Public comment sign up will close at 1 p.m. Sept. 6 or when the slots are filled, whichever comes first. In-person public comment slots may not be transferred.
The charter school commission will accept written public comments for one week after the conclusion of the public hearing, which ends at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.
