Claire Maxwell will serve as chair of the Rutherford County Board of Education for the next year, and Frances Rosales will serve as vice chair.
The elected School Board made the decision at a special-called meeting on Sept. 3 following new members joining the Board via the Aug. 1 election.
Maxwell was re-elected as the School Board representing Zone 5 after first being elected in August 2020.
Former long-time educator Butch Vaughn joined the board after winning the Zone 6 seat previously held by Shelia Bratton, who did not seek re-election. Vaughn is former principal of Oakland High School, Blackman Middle School and Central Middle School.
Stan Vaught joins the Board representing Zone 2 after previously serving as a member of the Rutherford County Commission, among other service roles. Vaught succeeds longtime School Board member Coy Young, who did not seek re-election.
Caleb Tidwell also won re-election for Zone 3 after being originally elected in 2022.
