42 apprentices earn teaching license via RCS ‘Grow Your Own’ program

In the Spring of 2023, 42 paraprofessional apprentices were given the opportunity to gain

licensure and a master's degree through a partnership between Rutherford County Schools and Lipscomb University's Grow Your Own program. 

During the past two years, these apprentices transitioned from educational assistants to teachers of record helping RCS fill many of our Special Education and ESL positions. 

The graduates were honored before the Rutherford County Board of Education and school district leaders during the Sept. 5 meeting. 

The following is a list of those who graduated the program and now are fully licensed teachers for RCS:
