Public meeting for high school zoning vote set for Dec. 17

The Rutherford County Board of Education is scheduled to vote Dec. 17 on proposed changes to high school zones, which will take effect in August 2025.

The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed on YouTube.

The School Board previously approved new zones for high schools last fall, with the new zoning scheduled to take effect in August 2025. At that time, the Board stated it would revisit the zone lines to make any growth adjustments before the 2025-2026 school year began.

As part of the rezoning decision, the Board has already approved for rising juniors and seniors to be grandfathered to remain at their current school as long as parents can provide transportation.

As part of the new proposal, the Board will consider a dual zone for one area (see map) between Siegel and Blackman High Schools. In this area, transportation will be provided to Siegel High School but parents can choose to send their children to Blackman High School, as long as the parents provide transportation.
