Rutherford County Schools
Holloway High School is a recipient of the prestigious Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award for its efforts in registering students to vote, Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett recently announced.
The Anne Dallas Dudley Awards honor the Tennessee suffragist who helped lead the successful effort to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920, making Tennessee the 36th and final state needed to give women the right to vote.
The gold level award goes to schools able to register 100% of their eligible students to vote, with the silver level award designated for schools with a registration rate of 85% or more. Awards are open to all Tennessee public, charter/private school, and home school associations.
Holloway was one of 41 schools in Tennessee to be recognized.
“Their hard work and commitment indicate a bright future ahead for Rutherford County and our state,” county election administrator Alan Farley said.
