Parents, we want to provide you with some preliminary information regarding the policy for students’ use of mobile phones during the school day, beginning with the new school year.
The Tennessee Legislature has adopted a new law that prohibits students from using mobile phones during the traditional school day. Students will be permitted to possess their phones, but they must be put away during the school day except in limited circumstances.
Our School Board has a policy committee meeting scheduled for July, when it will adjust any policies that are needed because of state law changes. Once the new policy is finalized, we will share the exact wording with you. But in the meantime, we want to give parents a heads-up so they can prepare their students for the new rule.
