Reminder: Zone Exemption applications being accepted through April 15

As a reminder, Rutherford County Schools is now accepting zone exemption applications through April 15, 2017. Zone exemption applications can be submitted by any family who would like to request to attend another school and feel they have a hardship. Requests are reviewed based on the reason for the request, space availability, recommendations from the principals, etc. For more informaiton, visit the zone exemption application page on the RCS website.

For those families at Stewarts Creek Middle, Smyrna Middle and Rock Springs Middle schools who have been rezoned to the new Rocky Fork Middle School, which will open in August, the School Board has approved a grandfather option to allow existing sixth- and seventh-graders to remain at their original school.

However, to choose this option, parents of those students must submit a zone exemption application to my office no later than Feb. 28, 2017, which is a week from today. Younger siblings are not included in the grandfather option and must attend their zoned school.
