The Murfreesboro PGA-JLG District All-Stars defeated Chattanooga No. 2 on Sept. 3 to capture the state championship, said team mom Tammy Sandlin.

The championship matches were played in Winstone Gold Course in Ringgold, Georgia, Sandlin said. The team has now earned the right to represent Tennessee in the PGA-JlG Allstar Regional, which will be played Oct. 1-2, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Three of Old Fort Golf Club juniors are Rutherford County middle school golfers. Jacob Teply, Carter Stephens and Wesley Sandlin will compete in this prestigious postseason tournament.

Murfreesboro's nine person team is represented by middle school golfers Wesley Sandlin from the Stewart Creek Middle golf team, Carter Stephens and Jacob Teply from the Oakland Middle golf team, as well as Mallory Tevrucht, Alex Mills and A.C. Banks from Tullahoma, and Conner Brown, Brady O'Neal and Garrett Rucker from Shelbyville.
