Rutherford County Schools continues filling positions for new school year

MURFREESBORO — Rutherford County Schools continues hiring teaching and classified positions for the new school year, which begins Friday, Aug. 5, 2016.

"As registration day comes and we have growth positions assigned to various schools, we will need a variety of teachers to fill those positions," said Leslie Duke, the certified analyst with human resources. 

The most hard-to-fill positions include foreign language, special education, secondary math, secondary science, and specialized Career & Technical Education positions, such as automotive and collision repair instructors.

Rutherford County Schools fills hundreds of positions each year because of growth and retirements. So far for 2016-2017, the district has hired approximately 275 new employees.
