For the fourth year in a row Jeni Sanders and her fourth grade class at Barfield Elementary School coordinated a shoe drive for Soles4Souls.

Her class brought in 413 pairs of shoes and the entire student body at Barfield collected a school-record 4,158 pairs.

Four years ago, Sanders set a goal of collecting 50,000 pairs and “with the help of our great school, community, family, friends and former students like Taty Greene and Sana Kattih,” she and her three children — Kelton, Kayken and Chaston Sanders — have collected nearly 29,000 pairs.

“Wow,” she said. “I’m just a proud mom and teacher for sure.”

She added, “Rutherford County Schools are the best.”
