Rutherford County Schools
A trio of Rutherford County students – Avery Stanley, Jessica Dreilling and Riley Cosminsky – were among eight students who took part in the Girls Who Code Club graduation reveal party at the Technology Engagement Center.
The Girls Who Code project was organized by OKAS, Inc.
Throughout the fall semester, girls in grades six through nine completed a computer science Impact project where they used computer science to solve an issue relevant to their classroom and community.
To complete the project, club members learned core computer science concepts – loops, variables, conditionals, and functions – that form the basis for all computer programming languages, according to a release from OKAS.
Stanley attends Siegel Middle School, while Dreilling goes to Central Magnet School and Cosminsky is enrolled at Oakland Middle School
The girls also created a website.

OKAS, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the youth in the community. Girls Who Code is a national non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology and change the image of what a computer programmer looks like and does.
