The Pursuit of Beauty - Frank Baugh Art Show
Arts educators are undeniably dedicated to helping their students learn about an artform – but, in many cases, they are also practicing artists themselves.
Uploaded Feb 22, 2021 by Dr. Lindsay Halford
Frank Baugh, a visual art teacher at Oakland High School, recently showed artwork he created over the past 3 years at the Washington Theatre Gallery in the Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro. Although the gallery is currently not open to the public due to COVID, Mr. Baugh teamed up with Murfreesboro City TV so the community can experience his paintings via video.
Baugh calls this exhibit “Common Mystery.” His inspiration for these works was the feeling of nostalgia – perhaps of memories that have been distorted over time. His hope is that viewers will see beauty in these images, through their own lens.
“The pursuit of beauty, in one way or another, is at the heart of most visual art,” Baugh says. “I like work that makes you wonder and makes you ask questions. I want my work to give viewers a chance to pause or maybe ponder a scene… a scene that might be familiar to them and ask questions to themselves about it.”
You can see some of Baugh’s artwork and listen as he discusses his work in this video. - High Quality Feedback Featured Uploaded Jan 11, 2021 by Jeannie Williams
