Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Candace McQueen was in Murfreesboro Wednesday night to address the first four-year “full-blooded Creek” graduating class.

McQueen congratulated the class of 2017 for having created a foundation for future classes at Stewarts Creek High School.

“You have set the tone for years to come,” McQueen said. “The ripples of your actions will impact and make a difference in the lives of elementary and middle school students right here in Rutherford County.”

McQueen shared a message of “One Team” that resonated with those in attendance at Murphy Center and spoke specifically about quotes she had read from graduating seniors Tucker Darden, Darwin Visan, Corey Perkins and Faith Marable.

Stewarts Creek was the first of 10 graduation ceremonies for Rutherford Country Schools being held between now and Sunday.
