The Tennessee State PGA Jr. League Champion golf team traveled to Edmond Oklahoma to play in the Mississippi Valley Regional Championship on Sept. 30, and finished in third place.

At the beginning of the 2016 season there were approximately 36,000 juniors playing on 2,500 teams around the country, team mom Tammy Sandlin said.   Going into the postseason with 590 teams, only 32 teams played in the regionals, leaving only eight spots in the national finals.

"Our ten person team out of Middle Tennessee was in the one percent," Sandlin said. "This is how special our players are that represent PGA-JLG Allstar Team Tennessee."

Team Tennessee battled against Alabama, Missouri Mississippi and Arkansas.

Murfreesboro's 10-person team is represented by young golfers from Tullahoma, Shelbyville and Murfreesboro.

Representing Murfreesboro are Wesley Sandlin, Carter Stephens and Jacob Teply coached by Jex Wilson PGA Master Professional and Director of Instruction & Junior Golf Development at Old Fort Golf Club.

Representing Tullahoma are Mallory Tevrucht, Alex Mills and A.C. Banks from Lakewood Golf & Country Club coached by John Dochety Head Pro PGA Professional.

Representing Shelbyville are Conner Brown, Brady O'Neal, Bennett Boyce and Garrett Rucker from Riverbend Country Club coached by Jake Pimental Assistant Pro.
