John Colemon Elementary School has been nationally recognized as an Imagine Learning Beacon School. John Colemon is one of only two schools from Tennessee and one of 63 nationwide to receive the honor, which is based on four specific sets of criteria in assessing schools who have implemented the Imagine Learning resources in their classrooms.

The Southeastern Young Adult Book Festival — more commonly known as SEYA — will be held March 8-10, 2018. SEYA was created and organized by local librarians. Leading up to the event, we have arranged for eight Rutherford County Schools’ students from throughout the district to interview authors for a question-and-answer style story. These stories will publish on Fridays over the next few months before the festival.

As one of the district’s three magnet programs, McFadden School of Excellence aims to drive students out of their comfort zones. Application deadline is January 31, 2018.

CONGRATULATIONS to Blackman Elementary School. They finished their coed bowling season as the 2017 champions. They claimed the title Nov. 8 at Smyrna Bowling Center. Blackman was one of 19 teams participating this season.
