The Rutherford County Board of Education hereby seeks to inform any former student who was born in the years 1995 or 1996 and who was certified as disabled under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), that it is no longer necessary for us to retain the information maintained, collected, or used in any such student’s special education record (s) for the purpose of providing appropriate special education services. 

 

Therefore, Rutherford County’s High Schools will be destroying any-and-all personally identifiable special education files that are maintained at the individual High Schools for former students born in 1995 or 1996.

 

Any former student who was born in 1995 or 1996 and who was certified under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) may request and receive the contents of his or her special education record(s).

 

All inquiries and requests should be directed to the School Office at the individual High School that your student attended. All requests for the contents of any such record(s) should be made to the School Office at the individual High School on or before the close of business (4:30 P.M.) on Friday, June 4, 2021.
