Brittney Frost is in her seventh year as the nurse of Lascassas Elementary.

Today she was recognized as our district’s first ever Nurse of the Year.

Shanna Groom — Health Services Coordinator for Rutherford County Schools — said Frost exemplifies every quality of what a school nurse should.

“Brittney is a student-centered nurse that displays professionalism, compassion, and genuine interest in each and every student she encounters.” Groom said. “She inspires trust and confidence in her school community with her professional response in all situations. Her dedication to excellence makes her shine as one of our new nurse preceptors.”

The Health Services Department is excited to award Frost with this inaugural honor.

“This is our new honor for our department, and we selected very rigorous requirements,” Groom said. “Nominees must have been with RCS for five years or more, be a Nationally Certified School Nurse, demonstrate excellence in school nursing practice, and leadership in her school.”

Frost was extremely humbled by the award that was presented to her by the Health Services team.

“It’s an honor because I look up to each one of these people who presented this award to me,” Frost said. “To know they see me and acknowledge what I’m doing is humbling.”

Frost raved about her time at Lascassas Elementary.

“I love this job,” Frost said. “My goal every day is to give each kid I interact with a big smile, know their name, and remember what they tell me.”
