Cosmetology teachers Charlise Kinslow and Jacqueline Mamrock partner together to give students experience through their classes.

Students can gain experience and apply those hours towards their cosmetology license at the end of their time in high school.

“It’s really great we can provide this opportunity,” said Mamrock. “Students are able to gain hours here where they do not have to pay for them, then apply them to their future licensure.”

The popular cosmetic company Redken recently donated supplies and furniture to help LaVergne High School give students a real look at cosmetology.

LaVergne currently has over 40 cosmetology chairs that students are able to use inside the classroom.

These supplies allow the students to be able to readily apply the knowledge they are gaining through the many years of experience of Kinslow and Mamrock.

Kinslow works with her classes to ensure they know the expectations of the state board in case any of her students go on to pursue a career in cosmetology.

“This field has grown so much,” Mamrock said. “I have been teaching cosmetology classes for 13 years. I want to help students understand how great of a career they can have in cosmetology.”
