Mac Jones is working with his STEM students to design projects to showcase at Middle Tennessee State University on April 3.

Some of the projects included are a miniature wave pool, an automatic livestock feeder, a circular saw extension, and a hairbrush with a removable layer to rid of excess hair.

Eagleville junior Nolan Lane said his goal with creating the saw extension is to make the lives of construction workers easier.

“The goal would be to allow construction sites to have the same ability to make clean cuts,” Lane said. “Most of the time they do not have access to a table saw, so this creation would help.”

Freshmen Molli Schlick and Addie Vernon are working on creating the automatic livestock feeder.

“The goal would be that it involves a Bluetooth connection and a [smartphone] application,” Schlick said. “We are working with our coding teacher to try to create the app.”

Jones’ class is also utilizing 3D printing to create some of the pieces for their projects.

The creation for the miniature surfboard for the wave pool was going to take 105 hours.

“Our students love anytime they get to design something,” Eagleville science teacher Isaac Haley said. “They love getting the opportunity to create.”
