Smyrna Middle, Central Magnet Science Olympiad teams headed to state contest

Teams from Smyrna Middle, Siegel Middle and Central Magnet schools competed in the regional Science Olympiad held Feb. 17 at MTSU.

At Science Olympiad, elementary, middle, and high school students can compete in 23 total events that span biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and inquiry.

Smyrna Middle and Central Magnet teams will proceed to the state-level event, which takes place in Knoxville in April.

Here is how each team placed:

Siegel Middle

Third Place: Wheeled Vehicle, Roller Coaster, Reach for the Stars, Fossils

Fourth Place:  Tower, Can't Judge a Powder 

Fifth Place: Disease Detectives

Sixth Place: Forestry, Road Scholar, Flight, Meteorology

 

Smyrna Middle

First Place: Flight

Second Place: Roller Coaster and Reach for the Stars

Fourth Place: Wind Power, Wheeled Vehicle, Meteorology, Crimebusters, and Codebusters

Sixth Place: Write it Do It and Tower Building

 

Central Magnet School

Central was awarded third place overall.

First Place: Crime Busters, Ecology, Fast Facts, Fossils, Meteorology and Microbe Mission

Second Place: Road Scholar

Third Place: Code Busters, Disease Detectives, Dynamic Planet,

Fourth Place: Flight

Fifth Place: Can't Judge a Powder, Air Trajectory, Experimental Design, Tower, Wind Power
