In order to maintain a safe environment for students, visitors, families, and staff, RCS has issued guidelines to school principals that all school personnel are required to follow in order to operate on RCS property. These guidelines are available from school administration and coaches and are subject to change based on public health agency recommendations.
TSSAA TRANSFER RULE
June 3, 2025
The TSSAA recently approved a one-time transfer for middle and high school athletes. The new bylaw allows students one free transfer to another school because of reasons of significant academic, social-emotional, environmental or mental health need if the sending school’s administration can attest the move is not for athletic purposes.
The TSSAA one-time transfer rule can only be used during the time designated by Rutherford County Schools during the Choice School Open Seats Application and Lottery Process. Any approvals of applications submitted are based upon the availability of seats and will be awarded via random lottery process.
The next available dates for all Rutherford County parents to have an opportunity to participate will be December 31, 2025, to January 31, 2026, which will be the application window for the 2026-2027 school year.
INFORMATION FOR 2024-2025 ATHLETIC TEAMS CAN BE FOUND ON YOUR SCHOOL'S WEB PAGE OR BY CALLING THE SCHOOL.

Athletic Participation
All registration for athletic participation will be completed on-line using FinalForms. Login information is available at the school the athlete will attend and shown below.
FinalForms
Rutherford County Board policy requires students to have a current athletic physical from a medical provider on file with RCS in order to participate in any extracurricular activities involving athletics. Physical examinations are required for students participating in any club that involve physical exertion or athletic activity such as rugby, ultimate frisbee, dance/half-timers, walking clubs, archery etc. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms in an efficient manner for your students. Contact the athletic director and/or coach at your school to get more information on FinalForms instructions. The link to FinalForms is shown below.

Additional Testing
According to a study published by the American College of Cardiology, pre-participation ECG screenings of young athletes can lead to the detection of serious underlying cardiac disease in a relatively small number of athletes. However, an ECG or similar testing is not required for participation in RCS Athletics. Parents may wish to discuss additional testing with their medical provider prior to athletic participation.
