FAFSA Information:
The FAFSA application opens December 1st! This is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and determines your eligibility for student financial aid. All seniors must fill out the FAFSA at https://fafsa.ed.gov
The HOPE Scholarship is established and funded from the net proceeds of the state lottery and awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible TN postsecondary institution within sixteen (16) months after graduating from a TN eligible high school.
- Eligibility:
- Be a resident of TN
- Graduate for a TN High School
- Have one of the following:
- 21 Composite on the ACT or

- Award Information:
- Four-Year Institutions and two-year institutions with on-campus housing:
- $4,500 full-time enrollment - freshmen and sophomore year
- $5,700 a junior and senior
- Two-Year Institutions:
- $3,200 per full-time enrollment- freshman and sophomore year
- Four-Year Institutions and two-year institutions with on-campus housing:

- Complete the FAFSA
- Award amounts are available for summer enrollment
- Class status is determined by the postsecondary institution
TN PROMISE Scholarship
Tennessee Promise provides students a mentor and a last-dollar scholarship, meaning the scholarship will cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, or the Tennessee Student Assistance Award. Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institution offering an associate degree program.
- Eligibility:
- Be a Tennessee resident
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Complete the Tennessee Promise application by November 1
- Complete the FAFSA by March 1 of the high school senior year
- Graduate from a Tennessee high school, home school, or earn a GED or HiSET prior to the student’s 19th birthday
- Attend a mandatory Tennessee Promise meeting
- Complete eight hours of community service for each semester the award is received
- Award Information:
- Award amount varies based on amount of remaining tuition and mandatory fees after all other gift aid has been applied.
